We are happy to welcome you on the website dedicated to the creative heritage of Vladimir Mayakovsky.

The collections of the poet's woks were unevenly distributed across the archives. Most of the drawings and manuscripts are located in the Russian State Archive of Literature and Art, and only a small part of the autographs are in the department of manuscripts of the Institute of Russian Literature (Pushkin House) of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

Mayakovsky’s collection at RGALI consists mostly of artist’s posters. Starting from autumn 1919 until February 1922, he created more than 1,500 ROSTA and Glavpolitprosvet posters along with the artists who later became legendary: I. Malyutin, A. Nurenberg, M. Cheremnykh. The first four inventories of the collection have covered more than a thousand items and are a tribute to the enormous talent and fantastic work efficiency of the poet and artist.

In the RGALI collections, the main stages of the life and work of Mayakovsky are recorded: from the register of St. George's Church, which contains the record of his birth, to the book of registration of visitors to the last exhibition ‘Mayakovsky. Twenty years of work’ (1929).

For us, in this vast collection, the most important materials are those reflecting the literary work of Mayakovsky. Among them are the manuscripts of the poems ‘A Cloud in Trousers’ (1913), ‘Backbone Flute’ (1916), ‘War and Peace’ (1917), ‘Man’ (1918),’150,000,000’(1920), ‘I Love’ (1920 - 1921), ‘IV Internationale’ (1922), ‘Vladimir Lenin’ (1924), ‘The Flying Proletarian’ (1925), ‘Good!’, ‘October 25, 1917’ (1927). The author's collections of poems are quite interesting as early futurist poetry (‘Simple as a moo’ (1916), ‘Jacket veil’ (1918)), and collections of the 1920s: ‘13 years of work’, ‘Moscow Gallery’ , ‘Spain. Ocean. Havana. Mexico. America’. The archive contains manuscripts of dramatic works, scripts, as well as a part of works that is called ‘unknown Mayakovsky’, it consists of draft notebooks and pocket-books of the poet. Some of these priceless materials are published on our website.
